The development of HydraPak PCPTM was spurred by the high maintenance costs and difficulty in operating a rod driven progressive cavity pump on a horizontal axis. HydraPak PCP was developed using a hydraulic driver that can provide sufficient torque to operate a progressive cavity pump in a vertical or horizontal position in a wellbore.
The HydraPak PCP system incorporates FlatPak, a multiple coiled tubing umbilical, and a downhole rotary driver that conveys and actuates a progressive cavity pump. HydraPak PCP eliminates concerns with rod and tubing wear and associated maintenance costs with your progressive cavity pump system.
Two of the tubes power a downhole hydraulic rotary motor and progressive cavity pump to force production fluids to the surface or reversed to flush fluids and solids back into the well.
The HydraPak PCP system can include a conduit for injecting additives to reduce production fluid viscosity, break down paraffin and other beneficial processes.
Using an optional data cable with down-hole data sensors, the HydraPak PCP system allows well optimization with information like pump intake pressure, discharge pressure, and temperature readings.
The HydraPak PCP system is lowered into the well via a conventional coiled tubing unit using special FlatPak running equipment. The HydraPak PCP system and downhole pump can be positioned in the heel or lateral of the well. A surface pump forces fluid into the closed loop hydraulic circuit in the umbilical to turn the downhole motor and progressive cavity pump.
As the motor and pump rotate, fluids and solids from the reservoir are pushed through the pump and return up the production tube located in the umbilical. Pump speed is controlled by increasing or reducing surface pumping rates through the hydraulic circuit.
CJS also offers hydraulic surface control automation to monitor and automatically control pump speed and fluid level to prevent well “pumpoff”.
Monitoring annular fluid level via pressure sensing, the controller will automatically adjust the surface pump rate and can be programmed to shut down if the casing annulus fluid level drops to the fault depth. This automated fluid level control mechanism protects against pump damage or failure.
The HydraPak PCP system will operate in vertical, deviated or horizontal gas or oil wells, simplifies tubing and casing cleanouts and has been designed to reduce well work-over costs compared to conventional rod-driven or electrically driven progressive cavity pump systems.
